Lynx Coach Cheryl Reeve Is Mother

Congrats to the New York Liberty on their first WNBA championship in 28 years!

Prior to their victory, I didn’t know how long the Liberty were a franchise (or that they had never won a championship) until the losing Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve made sure to let everyone know in her postgame presser with the media.

“Congratulations to the Liberty on their first championship. Been around, I don’t know how long (has) the leagues been around… 28 years. It took them 28 years, congrats to them. We were that close to our fifth, just didn’t happen,” said Reeve.

Petty. Ruthless. This is what I want from my head coach after a loss.

None of that ‘we played our best but it wasn’t enough’ or ‘they deserved it’ garbage we hear over and over again.

Complain about the officiating being unfair then say stuff like, “we don’t have a team that whines and complains.”

Don’t congratulate your opponent, but claim “it was stolen from us.”

Reeve delivered to us a pure, unadulterated reaction to losing a loser goes home championship game. Something that is lost in today’s media trained world.

To be honest, I had never heard of Reeves before her postgame media fury… but I have now. And if the WNBA store starts selling Reeves pantsuits, I’ll be the first to buy one.
